Special Contributions
The Material Handling Industry lost a true pioneer in the past year with the passing of Irving Footlik. Mr. Footlik was honored with a special memorial fund established by his family as the Irving and Sylvia Footlik Scholarship Fund with an initial contribution of $50,000 in perpetuity to fund future scholarships in the material handling technical field.
Establishment of the Don Frazier Supply Chain Logistics Training Center
After more than 50 years as an industry leader and pioneer, Mr. Don Frazier, founder of the Frazier Industrial Company, is still leading the way with the establishment of a special grant to promote educational programming in the high school and technical school arena.
In honor of Mr. Frazier, a special program is being established by the Rock Hill South Carolin School System. Just a few minutes south of the MHIA offices, Rock Hill School System, in conjunction with MHIA and MHEFI, plans to inaugurate a new program of study for the 2008-2009 academic year. This program will launch an entry-level educational program for high school graduates with the creation of a working warehouse. With the assistance and cooperation of major local industry, including West Marine, Ross Industries, State Farm Insurance, Black & Decker, and US Foods, these qualified students will have access to a career in the material handling industry.
Through the donation by Mr. Frazier and the contributions of Industry Leaders of goods and services, this program will launch on August 15, 2008. More information will be forthcoming.
