Certification Requirements

MHMS is pleased to offer a two-tier level of certification:

CAMH  Certified Associate in Materials Handling        
Cost for Certification:   $100.00   (U.S. Funds)

PCMH   Professional Certified in Materials Handling   
Cost for Certification:   $150.00 (U.S. Funds)

REQUIREMENTS FOR CAMH APPLICANTS REQUIREMENTS FOR PCMH APPLICANTS
Submission of an official certification application, including 3 letters of reference and/or recommendation. Must have attained the CAMH certification which may taken concurrently with the PCMH certification exam at a reduced fee
Payment of an application fee of $100.00 ($200.00 if applied for concurrently with PCMH application) Submission of an official certification application
Minimum of 8 combined experience credits in the materials handling field:
  • 1 credit/year of formal college of university education (maximum of 4 allowed)
  • 1 credit/yr of full time employment in the industry
  • 1 credit for every 3 certified material handling Continuing Education Units (CEUs) earned.
  • 1 credit earned Material Handling Institute Certificate
  • 1 credit per earned certification in a related discipline such as warehousing, logistics & production and inventory management
  • 1 credit for teachers each time a formal material handling/facilities planning course was taught at an accredited college or university
  • 1 credit for being a registered Professional Engineer

1/2 credit for 4 published papers or articles related to material handling. (1 credit maximum allowed)

Payment of an application fee of $150.00 ($200.00 if applied for concurrently with CAMH application)
Passing a test demonstrating a good grasp of material handling fundamentals and general equipment knowledge. Passing a test demonstrating more detailed planning, design and equipment application knowlege than is required of the CAMH, including some analytical capability
Recertification every 3 years:  a) Requires a $100.00 recertification fee and additional information verifying that one's knowledge and competency are current. Also, one must remain a member in good standing of the Society in order to maintain their certification. Re-testing: If for some reason you fail the exam you have 6 months from the date of the failed exam to re-test. If you do not re-test within that period of time, you will be required to re-apply, pay a new application fee and re-test. If you allow your credentials to lapse you will be required to re-apply, pay the application fees and re-test.
