Newsprint rolls are unloaded and delivered to an infeed conveyor by a clamp truck. The rolls of paper are then weighed, bar code scanned, and stripped of outer wrapping at semi-automatic prep stations. Automated Guided Vehicles pick up the stripped rolls and deliver the newsprint to double high drive-in storage racking or to the press as directed by the host computer.

Wire-guided Automated Guided Vehicles pick up Newsprint rolls from the storage racking and deliver to the twenty-four Automated Press Loading vehicles.

The Fork Style Automatic Guided Vehicles place the Paper Rolls on the Automated Press Loading (APL) vehicles. The APL is a low profile, narrow width vehicle that communicates with the AGV system’s Host Computer. The Host sends instructions to the APL to raise or lower it’s deck. Precise deck positioning allows the Press to automatically chuck rolls and begin the paste cycle.

The Fork Style Automatic Guided Vehicles also pick up full waste and core carts and returns empty carts for use in the next press run.
