Containers of automotive transmission components are automatically loaded onto Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) at receiving dock conveyors. The AGVs are then assigned in-plant destinations via a host computer interfacing with the plant’s Management Information System (MIS).
The fixed powered conveyor deck style AGV (18"- floor to top of roller), transports full containers from the docks to work centers in the final machining, sub-assembly and final assembly areas.
An optional lift deck style AGV can interface with conveyors at different heights (18" to 42" multi level programmable). These vehicles deliver parts from the receiving docks to heat treating and green machining areas. All reusable containers are then returned via the AGVs to the shipping docks for recycling.
During load transfer the AGVs communicate with the conveyor to ensure smooth load handling. The AGVs also communicate with the machining centers, allowing uninterrupted operation of all production equipment.
