Electrolift Rail Car A/C Maintenance Hoist
The customer required a hoist that can remove and replace the air conditioner unite from the top of the railcar. The unit must be removed at an angle, requiring independent hoist movement. One end of the unit is raised, moved forward slightly, then leveled and completely removed from the car. This was accomplished by providing two independently controlled hoists in a common frame. One radio control unit controls two hoists with selector switch for either hoist, or combined hoist operation.

R&M’s Spacemaster® SX Electric Wire Rope Hoists and Components in a Magnet Crane Application
The project required a 40 ton capacity double girder top running crane with two (2) 20 ton capacity hoists equipped with magnets for use in a CMAA Class D Service steel plate handling application. This heavy-duty application also called for a high hoisting speed, high trolley travel sped and a high bridge travel speed. The location for this application was under a roof with the sides of the building open exposing the equipment to the elements.

Well Planned Hoist Maintenance Program Reduces Downtime Significantly
“At the heart of the success of the plant is the organized maintenance program”. Very often, usual hoist wear and tear produces ordinary breakdowns that derail a process or plant for more time than is actually necessary. Regular inspection and maintenance can have a dramatic effect on the efficiency of production, safety awareness and overall profitability. Much of the downtime produced by breakdowns and maintenance has been reduced or eliminated by the implementation of a well thought out and organized maintenance program.

University-Industry Partnership Studies Auto Workers Ergonomic Situation
In the automotive industry, a single back injury can add as much as $2,000 to the cost of production of a single vehicle. But until recently, there hasn’t been very much research into the ways that U.S. automakers could reduce stress, fatigue and injury to U.S. auto workers. A university and industry collaboration has developed a think-tank that has begun to research ways to use material handling equipment to reduce these stresses on workers.

Demag DR Pro Hoists with Simultaneous and Independent Hoists are the Ideal Solution for Handling Long Materials
Handling of long bulky materials has often been a challenge when the hoists and trolleys do not run at the exact same speeds. Typically when two independent hoists are operated in parallel, the differences in starting and stopping times of the hoists causes the hoist lift or trolley travel to not be synchronized.
