OVERVIEW:
The project required a crane equipped for outdoor use that featured a "Restricted Area Protection" option to prevent the trolley from traveling into the area over the crane operator's pulpit located on the crane bay floor.

SOLUTION:
R&M provided a QX Modular Crane Package utilizing the Spacemaster? SX electric wire rope hoist with outdoor service protection and a Restricted Area Protection option. The outdoor service protection included hoist and trolley rain covers, standby heating in all control panels and pendant to prevent the build-up of condensation, stainless steel control enclosures to help protect against corrosion, IP66 motors and bridge motor rain covers. The Restricted Area Protection option consisted of trolley and bridge limit switches used in conjunction with relay logic located in the bridge panel to prevent the trolley from traveling into the restricted area when the bridge was located over the operator's pulpit and the bridge from traveling over the restricted area when the trolley was inline with the operator's pulpit.

WRAP UP:
The R&M QX Modular Crane equipped with outdoor service protection and a Restricted Area Protection option allowed the crane to be protected from the weather and to safely operate only in the unrestricted area.
