The Opportunity
A manufacturer in the semi-conductor industry entered into a new line of business that required components to be assembled in a class 10000 clean room. Since some bundles weighed in excess of 4000 lbs., a method of safely and carefully moving these within the room was needed. The height restrictions and the need to gently place parts onto various tables and work benches made it imperative that the lifting height be maximized.

The Solution
A DEMAG KBK Enclosed Track Double Girder Crane with a lifting capacity of 4400 lbs was selected for this task. By utilizing Clean Room Grade paint, encapsulated electrical components, and enclosing components of the chain system, the Class 10000 specifications were met. The hoist rides between the girders of the Double Girder Crane, thus the available lifting height is increased when compared with that of a Single Girder Crane. The DEMAG Stepless Variable Speed Chain hoist in conjunction with the low rolling resistance Crane allows the parts to be gently and precisely lifted, moved and placed with minimum effort.
