Features/Benefits Provided: Precision Handling Operator Safety Reduction in Product Damage

The Opportunity
A parts manufacturer needed a way to quickly and carefully transfer parts up to 500 lbs through a multi-stage dip tank sequence without suffering damage. Operator safety and ergonomics throughout this operation were top priority.

The Solution
By using a combination of Straight Track, Curved Track, Track Switches and Turntables, a multi- branch monorail system capable of servicing all tanks was installed. Demag KBK IIR Track with internal Busbar was selected for all components so that a continuous and reliable electric power supply was available for the chain hoist anywhere on the system. The direct path of the monorail allowed the part to be exactly positioned over the dip tank each time, eliminating impacts with the side of the tank. The operator could now comfortably lower the part into the tank from a safe distance.

Wrap Up
Because of the low rolling resistance Trolleys, minimal effort was required to move the parts into position.

Productivity was increased due to a decrease in the cycle time, a direct result of the fast and precise handling the monorail system allowed.
