Thailand is located roughly in the middle of Southeast Asia. It is the only country in Southeast Asia that was not colonized by the western powers. Thailand is roughly about the size of France or slightly twice the size of Wyoming. Population is about 62 millions. Bangkok or Krung Thep as it is known in the Thai language is the capital. Bangkok is also the largest city in Thailand with a population of approximately 9 million. Other major cities are Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Nakon Rachasima or Korat.
