This 10-page paper presents a straightforward method for approximating the effects of component failures and repair actions on the performance of Automated Guided Vehicle Systems (AGVS). The method involves the specification of the most likely states of the system and the corresponding performance level while in each state. Then using basic calculations, the overall effect of system availability on performance of the system can be determined. The method is illustrated with the use of an example.
