viastore systems adds needed capacity to a growing Phoenix Contact
Friday, October 07, 2011
viastore systems, Inc., a leading provider of intralogistic solutions that focus on operational efficiency and cost reduction, is currently adding three new AS/RS aisles to the existing system installed at Phoenix Contact by viastore in 2008.
Phoenix Contact, a worldwide leader in the development and manufacturing of electrical connection, electronics interface and industrial automation technologies has experienced strong and continued growth which justified this expansion.
The expansion allows Phoenix Contact to continue to effectively serve the needs of their markets within the Americas.
The original system was designed for expansion. The modular system design allows Phoenix Contact to change, modify or expand the system as needed.
The AS/RS solution is a good fit for Phoenix Contact's business. "We are very pleased with the entire system from top to bottom; the numbers show that we're substantially more productive now than with our previous manual system," states Lou Paioletti, Director of Logistics at Phoenix Contact.
Physically the system expansion includes:
- (3) additional viaspeed L double-deep SRM's, bringing the total to (7) SRM aisles
- 33,180 additional storage locations, bringing the total to 77,240 total locations
- Expansion of the mezzanine in front of the three new aisles
- (3) additional inbound conveyor (load) stations
- (3) additional outbound conveyor (unload) stations
- (1) conveyor short-cut between the inbound and outbound loops
- Modification to the viad@tPLC software
- Modification to the viad@tWMS/MFC/VISU software
