COLSON DONATES CASTERS TO UNIQUE REHAB FACILITY

Casters Support In-House Training and Employment Business Units

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Jonesboro, Arkansas – Colson Caster Corporation, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of standard and custom application caster and wheel products, has made a donation of more than 2000 caster products to Triangle Residential Options For Substance Abusers, Inc. (TROSA). Located in Durham, NC the widely respected residential facility enables substance abusers to be both recovering and productive individuals by providing comprehensive treatment coupled with work-based vocational training and education. The award-winning facility then offers this vocational training at one of its own, internally managed business units. Some residents even become employed within the organization after they have graduated from the treatment program.

“I can’t think of a more powerful way to help ensure the continued success of recovering individuals than to offer them training and potential employment as they make their way out of difficult times,” said Don Laux, Colson’s President and General Manager. “It also just feels good to see our products make such a difference in people’s lives and in the performance of this very innovative facility.”

Colson’s caster donation, valued at more than $4000, is its second collaboration with TROSA’s business units. The products are used for equipping dollies, carts, and movable shelves within the rehab center’s separate moving, packing, and storage service businesses, as well as its lawn care and maintenance, grocery, and furniture work companies. ‘Each One, Teach One’ is the motto for the facility and the in-house business units fulfill this mission for the center’s clients, of which more than 90% come to them already with a criminal record. The separate businesses and the tools made possible through the Colson donation help to lift lives that were formerly characterized by pain and helplessness.

"We use these wheels and carts in many venues including training our residents how to safely move electronic equipment,” said Michael Keene, Vice President of Business Operations for TROSA. “Giving our residents real-world vocational training is very important. When people graduate from TROSA one of the most important determining factors in their future success is their ability to get a good job. The more we can prepare them for that, the better. When we were talking with Colson regarding this story, one of our TROSA graduates and now an employee who helped us during the morning said succinctly, ‘Well, without these, we'd be pushing...not rolling!’"

Colson has been in business for more than 125 years, and today manufactures and globally markets more than 35,000 fully-tested caster and wheel products.
