SONY SELECTS HK SYSTEMS FOR NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, JANUARY 28, 2008 --- HK Systems, one of North America’s largest automated material handling and supply chain software total solutions providers, today announces the completion of an automated material handling system for Sony DADC. HK was selected by Sony in early 2007 to design, manufacture, and integrate the automated equipment and software for their Indiana manufacturing facility. The Sony facility manufactures, packages, and distributes over 1.8 billion discs per year and is one of the world’s largest distributors of content media including videos, games, music, and software.

To enable Sony to meet the demands of their ever-growing supply chain, HK Systems manufactured and installed an Automated Storage and Retrieval System, Unit Load Conveyor, and Controls. In addition, HK’s Equipment Management Software interfaces directly with Sony’s Oracle host software to create load movements, track location information, and provide inventory analysis. The solution delivers materials to the packaging lines at a rapid velocity and enables final packaging to be postponed until necessary.
