Proplanner announced today the release of its Assembly Plant oriented PFEP (Plan for Every Part) in-plant logistics module. This application provides a central point for shared access to where materials are stored, in what quantity, in what container, and how those materials were delivered. It then uses this information to support internal and external eKanban and eKitting activities via a synchronized interface to ERP and PDM.
“Our new version has created tremendous benefits during the field trials,” said Dr. Dave Sly, CEO of Proplanner. “Our trial site, was a major manufacturer which already had implemented manual Kanban and Kitting. After implementing our 2.0 version they reduced in-plant inventory by 84% and reduced part shortages to the line by 98%.”
Some of the new enhancements for 2.0:
- Full Copy and Paste compatibility with MS Excel Spreadsheets. Copy your Part and Location data into PFEP (for quick startup), and/or copy the transaction logs and aggregated reports from PFEP for further analysis.
- User Defined Color Coded Part Rows (called traffic lights) provide a quick way to identify issues with specific Kanban containers or Kits.
- Management Dashboard for visiblity of stock location status and Kanban/Kit container delivery delays.
- Full support for product (VIN specific) kit creation by supermarket ID provides a quick and easy way to generate supermarket-specific pick lists for a new product/batch entering the assembly line. Kits are auto-sequenced according to the order of the stock locations, and even provide for the auto-aggregation of multi-unit kit requirements.
- Full Support for Palm-Pilot scanners, in addition to all WiFi enabled handhelds which support Windows CE/Mobile OS.
- Specific Kanban container tracking, to enable data collection on Kanban container turns by specific container, instead of just the location.
- Grouping of Containers allows for logistics staff to check in/out each container in the pallet/tugger at a location, by simply scanning the group's tag.
