Overhead lifting solutions incorporate the newest technology and can require less maintenance compared to many other lifting devices, according to MHIA's Overhead Alliance. Using improper or antiquated equipment can lead to unsafe working conditions and increased costs for your business.
According to the Overhead Alliance, overhead systems are built to last and can handle heavy duty usage while continuing to perform at optimal levels. Extensive warranty programs and service contracts are available through most manufacturers and distributors. Additionally, an effective overhead lifting system can replace multiple forklifts and cover an extensive work area, thus increasing efficiency and reducing the cost of labor. When it comes to workflow throughout the facility, most overhead lifting systems can be developed with the specific job in mind in order to increase production and efficiency.
Three Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) Industry Groups—The Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA), Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI) and Monorail Manufacturers Association (MMA)—formed the Overhead Alliance in 2008 to promote the crane, hoist and monorail industries as alternative lifting and moving solutions that can reduce accidents, improve workplace health and safety, reduce product damage, improve workflow, lower costs and reduce environmental impact.
