Keynote Speaker

Global competition, coupled with concerns about climate change, is creating an important new mandate for energy innovation, exceptional customer service, and strong leadership. During this Keynote, Richard “Stick” Williams will discuss this sustainability mandate and detail energy products and services that can keep you and your customers competitive regionally and globally, yet are responsive to environmental concerns.

Stick Williams is vice president of enterprise field services for Duke Energy. He is responsible for the efficient and cost effective delivery of transportation fleet services (specifications, acquisition, and maintenance), meter operations, and warehouse services to Duke Energy’s generation and power delivery operations in the Carolinas, Ohio, Indiana, and Northern Kentucky.

Williams joined Duke Power in 1979 as a financial analyst. After a series of promotions in finance, he was named manager of investor relations in 1984. He was named branch manager of the Shelby office in 1989; district manager for the Chapel Hill area in 1990; Triangle-area manager in 1991; and general manager of business and community relations in 1995. In 1997, he was named vice president of business and community relations for North Carolina, responsible for managing the company’s response to both business and community concerns in the state. In 2002, Williams was named vice president of diversity and business ethics, initiatives, policies and practices, and served as compliance officer for the corporation. He was named vice president of diversity and employee development in 2004.
