A worldwide leader in the soft drink industry recently installed an
Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) with Warehouse Management Software (WMS) at their plant in Tampa, FL. The single aisle AS/RS stores cases of soft drinks on pallets, and feeds both manual and robotic order picking areas. Designed to store 12,000 pallets, the AS/RS operates with 2 SRMs in one aisle.
Due to fierce industry competition, achieving sustainable logistical cost savings is vital to this soft drink producer. Among the products it offers worldwide are sodas, teas, water and juice products.
Chief among the objectives of this facility expansion, besides maximizing storage space with the high density AS/RS, is to build store ready pallets. Doing this requires full layer and mixed layer palletizing, utilizing both manual and robotic order picking. Four (4) Gantry robots are involved in the order picking system. Integrating the system components is vital to its success.
Westfalia’s WMS controls all the order processing, integrating the SRMs, case & pallet conveyors, pallet check stations, gantry robots for high speed layer and mixed layer order picking, manual order top off, stretch wrapping and sequencing for truck loading.
This worldwide leader is committed to reducing waste and its impact on the environ-ment. Our high density AS/RS offers sustain-able lower operating costs, and a smaller building footprint which help meet these corporate goals.

is a proud member of AS/RS, a Product Section of the Material Handling Industry of America
