Cranes are Key to Assembly Efficiency
Demag Cranes & Components Corp. has supplied an integrated overhead crane based logistics solution to a leading manufacturer of steam turbines. Specially designed cranes for lifting of heavy turbine assemblies, parts and semi-finished components at machining centers and work station cranes are installed on three operating levels to interactively support the integrated manufacturing process.
Process Cranes for Heavy Lifts
Two (2) process cranes with app. 79 ft span and capacities of 200/100 tons and 80/32 tons respectively are installed at the highest level. Their main and auxiliary hoist trolley design of Demag MPW High Performance Built-up Winches allows precise lifting motions and safe, synchronized turning of large assemblies during the production process. Proportionate speed control for all axes is achieved via Radio Control units equipped with stepless joy-sticks.
Demag Cranes & Components Corp., a leading supplier of integrated Process Crane Systems to meet specific requirements of many user industries.
Standard Cranes for Flexibility
Three (3) standard double girder cranes (app. 76 ft) share the runway on the intermediate level to support the interconnecting logistics required by the 20 machining and assembly centers in the 33,000 sqft. production area. Capacities are 20/12.5 tons and 32/16 tons, all crane motions are controlled via stepless radio control and frequency inverters. The space-saving design of the Demag EZDR Pro hoist trolleys allowed for maximum under-hook clearance and optimized side approach dimensions.
Ergonomics at Workstations
Seven (7) identical wall-mounted slewing jib cranes are used for handling components up to a weight of 1 ton at the assembly stations The 16 ft. long jib girders can be moved through 180 ° and are fitted with Demag DCPro Chain Hoists.
