The Opportunity
A suspension crane system was required for operation in a cheese processing facility to handle 400 lb cheese trays which were lowered into a brine solution. The environmental conditions meant that the equipment must be supplied with food grade paint and subject to very high humidity. Overall system height was also critical.

The Solution
A Demag KBK single girder crane system with raised end trucks was supplied to give the customer the largest possible headroom. The raised end truck, a standard product within the Demag product line, can maximize the available lift by raising the bridge of the crane significantly. This allowed the cheese trays in this application, to clear the brine tanks by almost 10 inches. The KBK track was supplied with paint that was both suitable for food handling and had effective protection against corrosion since humidity levels can reach 92% inside this facility.
